More than 2.9 million people claimed at least one Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) payment up to April 5, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HMRC is reminding self-employed workers that\u00a0SEISS grants\u00a0four and five &#8211; worth up to \u00a37,500 each &#8211; were issued between April and September and are both taxable. If you received either of these payments they should be declared on tax returns for the 2021 to 2022 tax year before the deadline on January 31, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The SEISS application and payment windows during the 2021 to 2022 tax year were:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SEISS 4: 22 April 2021 to 1 June 2021<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SEISS 5: 29 July 2021 to 30 September 2021<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, HMRC warns that SEISS is not the only\u00a0Covid-19 support scheme\u00a0that should be declared on tax returns. If customers received other support payments during the 2021 to 2022 tax year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"amp-readmore-target\"><strong>They may need to report this on their tax return if they are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>self-employed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in a partnership<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers can check which Covid-19 grants or payments they need to report to HMRC on GOV.UK&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/reporting-coronavirus-covid-19-grants-and-support-payments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>. This applies to payments received during the 2021 to 2022 tax year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myrtle Lloyd, HMRC\u2019s Director General for Customer Services, said: \u201cWe want to help customers get their tax returns right, first time. We have videos and guidance available online to support you with your Self Assessment. Search \u2018help with Self Assessment\u2019 on GOV.UK to find out more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Help and support is available on\u00a0GOV.UK\u00a0for those completing their Self Assessment tax returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also a series of videos on\u00a0YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HMRC app<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The free and secure HMRC app can be used to make Self Assessment payments. Alternative payment options include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>paying through PAYE tax code (subject to eligibility)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>paying via online banking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who are unable to pay their tax bill in full can access the support and advice that\u2019s available on\u00a0GOV.UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HMRC may be able to help by arranging an affordable payment plan, known as a Time to pay.
