{"id":892,"date":"2022-11-05T10:52:04","date_gmt":"2022-11-05T10:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/skyaspiration.co.uk\/?p=892"},"modified":"2022-11-05T10:52:04","modified_gmt":"2022-11-05T10:52:04","slug":"2000-in-government-funding-available-to-help-with-childcare-costs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skyaspiration.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/11\/05\/2000-in-government-funding-available-to-help-with-childcare-costs\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a32,000 in government funding available to help with childcare costs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" src=\"https:\/\/skyaspiration.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/s300_TFC_dad_and_son-GOVUK960x640.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-893\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Families could save up to \u00a32,000 a year towards their childcare costs to help pay for October half-term holiday clubs and wraparound care during the school terms, reminds HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 391,000 families saved money on their childcare costs in June 2022, worth a total of \u00a341.6 million in top-up payments, and&nbsp;HMRC&nbsp;is urging thousands of other families to not miss the chance to save up to \u00a3500 every 3 months, or \u00a31,000 if their child is disabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Families can sign up to Tax-Free Childcare to help pay for holiday clubs, before and after-school clubs, childminders and nurseries, and other approved childcare schemes. It is available to families with children up to the age of 11, or 17 if their child has a disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government will pay 20% of childcare costs by topping up the money paid into a Tax-Free Childcare account. This means for every \u00a38 paid into the online account, families will automatically receive an additional \u00a32 in government top-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Families can find out more about\u00a0Tax-Free Childcare via the\u00a0Childcare Choices website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myrtle Lloyd,&nbsp;HMRC\u2019s Director General for Customer Services, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Tax-Free Childcare can make a big difference to families, helping with the bills for things like holiday clubs, nurseries, childminders and after school clubs. It\u2019s easy to register \u2013 search \u2018Tax-Free Childcare\u2019 on GOV.UK.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>For thousands of families who use Tax-Free Childcare, the money they save each month on their childcare costs is money that goes back into their pockets. Accounts can be opened at any time of the year and can be used straight away, money can be deposited at any time and used when needed. Any unused money that is deposited can be simply withdrawn at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than one million families in the UK are entitled to some form of government childcare support and the government is encouraging those eligible to not miss out on their entitlements. Families can find out\u00a0what childcare support is best for them via Childcare Choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"further-information\">Further information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information about\u00a0Tax-Free Childcare\u00a0and how to register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents and carers could be eligible for Tax-Free Childcare if they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>have a child or children aged up to 11. They stop being eligible on 1 September after their 11th birthday. If their child has a disability, they may get up to \u00a34,000 a year until they are 17<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>earn, or expect to earn, at least the National Minimum Wage or Living Wage for 16 hours a week, on average<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>each earn under \u00a3100,000 per annum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>do not receive tax credits, Universal Credits or childcare vouchers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest\u00a0Tax-Free Childcare statistics\u00a0were released on 17 August 2022. Data is available up to June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HMRC\u00a0has produced a refreshed\u00a0Tax-Free Childcare guide\u00a0for parents, which explains the reasons and benefits of signing up for the scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each eligible child requires their own Tax-Free Childcare account. If families have more than one eligible child, they will need to register an account for each child. The 20% government top-up is then applied to deposits made for each child, not the household.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Account holders must confirm their details are up to date every three months to continue receiving the government top-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Childcare providers can also sign up for a\u00a0childcare provider account via GOV.UK\u00a0to receive payments from parents and carers via the scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government is offering\u00a0help for households.
